Till date there had been several advancements in the field of computer technology since the day they were invented. With passing time, they have become smaller in size and larger in efficiency. The previous bulky storage devices like floppy discs and others have been replaced by smaller flash drives and several other types of memory chips. Solid State Disks are just another name for Flash Drives. Solid state devices are data storage devices without any moving parts unlike the traditional hard disk drives and that is where it derives its name.

It is the new generation technology that is fast replacing the traditional hard drives. There are several advantages of the solid state disks, but before that you must know what it exactly is and how does a solid state disk works. Previously magnetic tapes were used in the hard disk drives to store data, but in the solid state disks, it uses semiconductors to store data and information. Solid state disks or SSD’s are mainly of two types; one that uses volatile cache and the other that uses non volatile cache. The difference between the two lies in the fact the first one requires a power source to retain data whereas the second one can retain data even when power is detached. There are several other advantages also that can be listed as follows. SSD’s prove to be much faster than the regular hard drives and boots quite faster than them. It can also access an application almost 65%faster than the regular hard drives.

The solid state disks require much less power and hence add to better power utilization. They are also much resistant to damage and tend to last longer. They are resistant to damage due to sudden impacts and vibrations. The SSD’s also do not require a fan to keep it cool since it does not involve any moving parts unlike the regular hard drives and as a result they are about 50% lighter, thus making it more easy to use. The solid state disks are built mostly on the 2.5” size which is the regular size of a hard disk of the laptops. But it can also be used with the 3.5” slots of the desktops with the help of an adapter. The solid state disks are available with a number of connection types like IDE, SATA, ZIF, SLC, MLC, mini-PCI-E and several others as per your requirements.

Thus if you want to speed up your machine, it would be perfect to switch to solid state disks which will also add to better power utilization and lightening your machine. The only drawbacks of the SSD’s are its price which is much higher than the regular hard disks or USB hard drives.

There had been huge advancements in the field of computing technology since the day they were invented. Several accessories were modified and invented that has taken the experience of computing to its highest level of advancement. Hard disk duplicator is one of such gadgets that has been lately proved to be one of the most efficient and useful computing accessory. A hard drive duplicator is a device that can copy or clone hard drives easily, efficiently and quickly. It can be used for several useful purposes. It is used to copy the contents of a hard drive to a new hard drive for further use. It also helps to rename the respective partitions in the existing hard drive and reconstruct the bad sectors thus avoiding any sort of data loss.

The device can either be attached to a computer or can even be in the form of a portable hand held device. Hard duplicators can be mainly of two types. Some of them require the hard disk to be taken out of the computer or laptop for cloning whereas some don’t require them to be taken out. They simply use an USB, PCMCIA, or a 40 pin IDE cable to connect it to the computer. Hard drive duplicators work with almost all the operating systems equally well and there have been no issues of incompatibility so far. A hard duplicator can clone multiple hard drives at a time and can clone all the data stored in the hard drive irrespective of whether it is FAT or NTFS formatted. The speed of data transfer in the duplicator depends upon its type and mainly upon the type of the connection that it uses. With a 40 pin IDE cable it can even transfer data up to a speed of almost 3 GB per minute.

Hard drive duplicators can also be bought online from a number of companies, but before you buy one, you must check about the product beforehand. With a hard drive duplicator one can even copy content from a faulty hard drive and thus replace the faulty one with a new one with all the data stored. Thus this has proved to be one of the most useful tools for the technicians. Hard drive duplicators have also found wide uses in the crime section where police personnel’s use it for forensic purposes. There are special models available only for these forensic needs.

The price of a hard drive duplicator varies between about $500 to thousands of dollars depending upon the type and its use. Sometimes it may seem to be a bit pricey, but when compared to its services, it is really worth every buck.

Before coming to FireWire Hard disk drive it must be made clear about an external hard disk drive an external hard disk drive is a hard disk that can be attached externally to a computer or a laptop by means of a connecting cable. You may require an external hard disk drive for various reasons. Previously, the old computers did not have much capacity and thus there was limited space available to store important data. Thus for someone who uses such computers, it would be helpful to use external hard disk drives to store his data’s. The internal hard disks are much costlier as compared to the external drives and hence it also beneficial to use them. One may also opt for an external hard disk drive if he has to travel too much and carrying a laptop or a computer is not possible all the times. The external hard disk drives can be easily connected to almost all computers and hence one can easily carry the important data and documents in it without even carrying a computer or a laptop. Whenever he needs to access the data stored in the hard disk drive he just needs to connect to any available computer.

Today various types of external hard disc drives can be found in the market. The available drives in the market consist of standard SATA, SCSI or IDE hard drives in portable disk enclosures with USB, SCSI eSATA, and IEEE 1394 FireWire user interfaces to connect to the computer.

Thus a FireWire external hard drive is one which uses a FireWire connectivity to connect the hard disk to the computer or laptop. FireWire is a much faster protocol as compared to the USB. There are two types of FireWire connections available; namely FireWire 400 and FireWire 800 which corresponds to the respective speeds at which each of them are capable of transferring data. The lower FireWire speed can be compared to the modern USB 2.0 ports. But however FireWire ports are rarely found on most of the consumer PC’s where USB connections are still preferred. The FireWire technology is capable of transmitting large amounts of information at a much shorter time and generally finds its place in cameras and external hard drives. Thus when you opt to buy a FireWire external hard disk drive, it must be made sure that the computer supports FireWire connectivity. FireWire is further going advancement and very soon FireWire connections with 1600 Mbps and 3200 Mbps would be available. Thus it is expected that it would soon find applications in most of the devices and FireWire external hard drives would be readily used.

Firstly it is important to understand the difference between a locked phone and an unlocked phone. An unlocked cell phone is nothing but a cell phone that is not configured to any specific cellular service provider and hence multiple networks can be accessed through the phone by just changing the SIM cards. When a customer buys a cell phone from a specific service provider which is more popularly known as CDMA phones the phones are always configured to that specific network provider. It only respond to the SIM card or Subscriber Identity Module card of that particular service provider and does not work with SIM cards of the other service providers because they are locked to that particular service network provider. On the other hand, in an unlocked cell phone multiple networks can be accessed whenever desired just by changing the SIM cards. All the unlocked phones available in the market are GSM phones and hence unlocked phones are also known as unlocked GSM phones.

There are certain advantage and disadvantages as well of these unlocked GSM cell phones. The most advantageous feature of the unlocked GSM cell phones is that one can easily switch between multiple service providers without buying another phone. It gives the customer the choice of using the network that seems to be most advantageous to him at that particular time or place. The unlocked cell phones also provide the customer with the facility to change the handset whenever he wants without changing the service provider which is not always possible on a locked phone. He just needs to take out the SIM card and insert it back to his new phone.

However there are certain disadvantages also associated also with the unlocked GSM phones. It does not allow you to access certain network specific soft ware’s or services. Sometimes locked phone provides with services or facilities that can only be accessed through that network. In that case an unlocked GSM phone will be unable to avail such facilities. Also unlocked GSM phones are generally more costly than the locked ones. The locked phones are always available at a reduced price since the company will always want you to use the services and hence will always offer certain discounts on the phones which is not applicable in case of the unlocked phones.

Sometimes locked phones are unlocked by the service provider itself after completing the service term. But that depends upon the conditions and offers applied during the time of purchase. Sometimes it is also possible to unlock existing locked phones unofficially by technicians.

Thus to conclude, it can be said that many customers have found the unlocked GSM phones are advantageous and some disadvantageous since it offers the customers with choice and flexibility but at the same time are most costly than locked phones.

Till date there had been several advancements in the field of computer technology since the day they were invented. With passing time, they have become smaller in size and larger in efficiency. The previous bulky storage devices like floppy discs and others have been replaced by smaller flash drives and several other types of memory chips. There has been huge advancement in the software sector. Today there are several software’s available both in the market and even on the internet that can help to compress data in order to store more data in an available space. Disk compression softwares have been proved to be very useful in the computing world and has found wide applications in both personal and official use.

There are a wide variety of disk compression softwares available in the market. It depends upon you to choose the best one that is suitable for you. Disk compression software works on the same principle as that of file compression software like the WinZip or the WinRar. In technical language data compression can be defined as the process of encoding information by using a lesser number of bits as compared to unencoded information by using certain encoding processes.

The only thing that is to be kept in mind while using disk compression software, is that it must be made sure that the decoded information method is supported by the machine. Disk compression is also useful as it helps in optimization of disk space and utilizes the total space available in the drive by allocating the information properly among the memory cells. Today various disk compression softwares are even available on the internet. You are most likely to find a demo version of the sotware on the internet. This allows the user to choose the one that would serve the best and then buy the full version of the same one.

However before using the disk compression software, certain things must be kept in mind. Firstly you must remember that the best software is the one which can compress the data on the disk efficiently and at the same time is comfortable to work with. Next, the compatibility of the compression format must be checked before running the application. The extraction formats also need to be supported in order to work with the extracted data. Last but not the least it is advised to go properly through the user guide of the disk compression software to avoid any complications later.

NAND Hard Drives stands for Not And Hard Drives which is a high capacity and very fast solid state disk. NAND defines the architecture of this special type of solid state drive and differentiates it from the NOR Drives which stands for Not Or Drives. Till date there had been several advancements in the field of computer technology since the day they were invented. With passing time, they have become smaller in size and larger in efficiency. The previous bulky storage devices have been replaced by smaller flash drives and several other types of memory chips and NAND Drives are one of the latest in the series. The NAND Drives are data storage devices without any moving parts unlike the traditional hard disk drives.

The structure of a NAND Drive is similar to any other solid state disks. Previously magnetic tapes were used in the hard disk drives to store data, but in the solid state disks, it uses semiconductors to store data and information. The solid state disks require much less power and hence add to better power utilization. They are also much resistant to damage and tend to last longer. They are resistant to damage due to sudden impacts and vibrations. The drives also do not require a fan to keep it cool since it does not involve any moving parts unlike the regular hard drives and as a result they are about 50% lighter, thus making it more easy to use. The NAND Drives are built mostly on the 2.5” size which is the regular size of a hard disk of the laptops. But it can also be used with the 3.5” slots of the desktops with the help of an adapter.

A NAND Drive can be differentiated from the NOR drives in respect of cost, size and usage. NOR Drives are mostly found on mobiles and PDA’s where as NAND drives are used on laptops and desktops. NAND Drives are also much more cost effective than the NOR Drives and are smaller in size. The NAND Drives also works much faster than the NOR Drives and are also more durable than them. It has a longer span thus making it one of the latest and best choices to be used for high capacity storage and faster usage.

The NAND Hard Drives bears very little chance of crashing and are hence finding application in many places. They are silent and power consumption is much lesser than the traditional hard disk drives. However the only drawback of the NAND Drives is its extremely high pricing, which is the only limitation to its use. However research works are still being carried out for further improvements and is expected to appear in most of the machines within a couple of years.

Before coming to the differences, it is important to know about NTSC and PAL. NTSC stands for National Television System Committee and PAL stands for Phase Alternate Line. NTSC and PAL are two different types of television signals that are incompatible with one another. NTSC are the analog signals used for broadcasting television signals in the countries of America, South Korea, Japan and some other nations. On the other hand PAL or Phase Alternate Line are the analog television signals used for broadcasting in the countries of Australia, Europe (except France), East Africa and China.

The basic difference between the NTSC and PAL signals lies in the electric power that is generated for television sets in the respective countries. The electric outputs in America and the other NTSC countries generate a power of 60 Hertz and hence televisions in these countries run on a 60 hertz power supply. Whereas in the PAL countries like Europe and Australia, electric outputs produce a power of 50 hertz and hence the televisions there use a 50 hertz power supply. The two signals NTSC and PAL are incompatible with each other. This means that the televisions which are designed to display only the NTSC images will suffer difficulties in displaying PAL images and the television sets adapted to display PAL images will be unable to display NTSC images. The two formats also differ in the number of complete images that is transmitted per second.

NTSC broadcasts at a speed of 30 frames per second whereas PAL can broadcast at a speed of about 25 frames per second. Thus an NTSC picture would be more clear and smooth since more images are broadcasted per second. There is also a marked difference in the resolution of the two formats. PAL has a resolution of 576i or 625 scan lines whereas NTSC broadcasted images are of 525 scan lines or 480i. Considering this aspect, PAL is capable of displaying a clearer image than NTSC. The lower resolution in the NTSC signals results in a less color depth and hence the NTSC television sets are mostly installed with tint controllers whereas PAL television sets are not. There also lies a difference in the aspect ratio of the two signals. NTSC broadcasts its images at an aspect ratio of 4:3 whereas PAL broadcasts at a ratio of 1:1.

The NTSC and PAL formats also mark a difference in the discs that are available in that country. However, nowadays there are players that are compatible with both the PAL and NTSC formats.

However today in this modern age of electronic advancement most people are opting to use digital television sets which have minimized this difference between NTSC and PAL considerably.

Till date there had been several advancements in the field of computer technology since the day they were invented. With passing time, they have become smaller in size and larger in efficiency. The previous bulky storage devices like floppy discs and others have been replaced by smaller flash drives and several other types of memory chips. Before pointing out the differences between a flash drive and a hard drive one must have a clear idea about each one of it; their features, advantages and disadvantages.

A hard drive represents a heavier palm sized memory device which consists of a roving head and spinning platters. Today various types of hard disc drives are available in the market. The available drives in the market consist of standard SATA, SCSI or IDE hard drives in disk enclosures with USB, SCSI eSATA, and IEEE 1394 FireWire user interfaces to connect to the computer. The hard disks available in the market today comes with a storage capacity ranging between 160 GB to 4 TB and the cost generally varies between 0.16 to 0.37 USD per gigabyte. Almost all of the hard drives available currently in the market are compatible with all the operating systems and come with easy user interface instructions to connect and install it to the computer. Data is imprinted on the hard drive through the magnetic platters and can be read by the roving head.

On the other hand a flash memory represents a much smaller memory chip and measures only a few inches. It is a solid state chip and does not consist of any moving parts. They are practically weightless and do not require a power supply to store information. Flash memory finds huge application especially in the portable devices like cameras, mobile phones portable digital music players and several others. It derives its name from the technology of flashing a cell in the chip to clear the data stored in it previously. Due to their lightweight and several other advantages they have also found its application in the computers in the form of pen drives and flash drives.

There are several differences that can be listed between a flash drive and a hard drive. A flash drive does not consist of any moving parts and are hence more easy and efficient to use. For the same reason, the chance of data loss is also less in the flash drives. They require much less space than the hard drives and are hence finding in more and more devices. The difference also lies in case of power consumption. The flash drives require minimal power and does not require a separate power source unlike the hard disk drives. For all the above advantages scientists are trying to replace the hard drives with flash drives. The disadvantage of the flash drive with respect to the hard drive lies in the cost. Flash drives prove to be more costly than hard drives.

Before coming to the point of whether it is legal or not, it is important for one to know that what an unlocked phone means. An unlocked cell phone is nothing but a cell phone that is not configured to any specific cellular service provider and multiple networks can be accessed through the phone by just changing the SIM cards. When a customer buys a cell phone from a specific service provider which is more popularly known as CDMA phones the phones are always configured to that specific network provider. It only respond to the SIM card or Subscriber Identity Module card of that particular service provider and does not work with SIM cards of other service providers because they are locked to that particular service network provider. On the other hand, in an unlocked cell phone multiple networks can be accessed whenever desired just by changing the SIM cards. It is not programmed or configured to any specific service provider.

Using unlocked cell phones is not a crime and is not illegal. However, unlocking a locked phone before the end of service term is considered illegal as it breaches the contract between the customer and the service provider. In some countries unlocking a locked phone is always considered illegal and is never allowed. However, using an unlocked phone is not at all considered illegal and you can always use it with any service provider of your choice.

Previously television sets meant a huge box with a cathode ray tube at the back that took most of the space of your TV table. But now, with the advancement of technology, the plasma televisions have replaced the old idea of television and have provided us with an all new viewing experience. The cathode ray tubes have been replaces by much thinner plasma televisions which offer with a much better picture quality and saves space. They are also quite portable as compared to the old television sets and can be easily moved from one place to another.

A plasma TV can thus be defined as a high definition alternative to the older television sets. It provides us with a far better picture quality with vibrant colors and sharp images as compared to the standard television sets sold in the market. The main technology behind the plasma televisions is that they use plasma to create the picture on the screen. Plasma is the technically known for gases like xenon and neon atoms. These collide with the electrically charged electrons on turning the power of the television and the collision increases the energy level of the xenon and neon particles which as a result emits light energy or photos of lights which creates the picture on the screen. Unlike the traditional television sets, the plasma TVs offers a much larger viewing area of even up to 50 inches. With an aspect ratio of 16:9 as compared to the 4:3 ratios of the previous television sets, the viewing experience is much better on a plasma TV.

In a plasma television screen each of the millions of pixels are composed of three tiny containers of inert gases like neon and xenon which remain collapsed between the two of the electrically charged plates . There is a built in computer unit in the television set that receives the broadcasted signals and transmits it to each of the pixels to create the motion pictures. The flat screen is another of the positive feature of the plasma televisions which offers the viewer with a much wider view of the screen. The colors are also much brighter and well defined than the usual traditional TV sets available in the market.

However, there are also certain drawbacks of the plasma televisions. They are much costlier than the usual television sets and are sometimes too pricey for the common people to always opt for them. Another major drawback of these plasma sets is that they are more vulnerable to damage than the usual ones. If any hard objects strikes to the plasma screen many of the gas filled tubes instantly lose their glowing ability. It then becomes too costly to replace it and sometimes replacement is not even available. Thus one must keep these things in mind before opting for a plasma television, which otherwise probably provides with the finest viewing experience till date.
